While I appreciate to do lists and tend to have one lying around somewhere at all times, being very detailed is something I have resisted. I like to leave a little space for spontaneity. Even the words “stricter schedule” makes me want to rip up my to do list and go gallivanting outside! However, my spontaneity often leads to taking care of the phone calls or texts and forgetting my main goals. Anyone relating? So here are a couple of ideas that I have recently tried and found helpful. Create calm and cut chaos in your life as you consider and implement a few of these ideas. And you know what? You might even have some fun!

Planners
Beautiful physical planners are back in vogue!! Yay! Let’s hear is for the pen and paper gals!! I love my pen and paper. I can see it and touch it, and there is no technology involved. Sigh of relief!
I purchased a Brilliant Life Planner. I have been using the Brilliant Life Planner this year to keep my to do list on, instead of the scraps of pieces of paper floating around somewhere. That has been super helpful in seeing my whole week planned out more clearly. Having a planner works way better than putting things on the calendar and separate paper to do lists.
Sitting down Saturday or Sunday, I map out the goals (appts, errands, posts to write, bills to paid) that need to be accomplished in the week ahead. It’s smart way to spend 15 minutes. The time pays off big by offering a much more organized week.
PLUS, the Brilliant Life Planner has a place for my top 3 goals for the week for my hobby/business pursuits and my personal/home goals.
I love that as the week goes on I can quickly glance at my top goals and regain my focus! It helps me feel so much more organized and successful.
And since the planner is for moms there is a place to write down each week memories and things for which we are thankful!
Psst…the Brilliant Life Planner 2019 is NOW available! Yay! Check out the 2 gorgeous cover options here.
Google Calendar
So now, to the next test! Google Calendar! OK, so I just finished telling you how much I love my pen and paper. So keep that in mind. I decided to try Google Calendar to help me move my bigger goals forward.
I started by just creating a weekly morning schedule. And you know what? I am loving it. It sends little reminders to my phone a half an hour before hand reminding me what is planned next. Instead of finding it restricting it has actually been freeing! I feel more focused on what I am presently doing! And even a non-tech person such as myself can easily create a schedule.

Create a Family Schedule
Sometimes we need a total revamp. Our schedule is not cutting in AT ALL. A great exercise we do, in the groups I teach, is to have families look over their whole household schedule and rules. What is working and going well? What is not working?
Then we try to determine why some household rules are failing. Is it because we are not being clear and specific enough in our directions? Sometimes our household schedule fails for lack of follow through.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, like you are running around putting out one crisis fire after the other it may be time to step back for a minute.
Here are a couple suggestions on ecourses that walk you through the steps to create a family schedule.
I really appreciated Crystal Paine’s (from moneysavingmom.com) 15 Days to a Healthier You and her Make Over Your Mornings. Both were super helpful ecourses that walk you through creating an overall schedule for you and your family. I walked away with concrete ideas on improving my life, setting small daily goals and creating a schedule that helped my mornings (and therefore my day) run much smoother!
Currently, she just opened her Say Goodbye to Survival Mode Course . Crystal, from moneysavingmom.com, held a great webinar sharing some of her personal struggles and why she created this affordable $17 course. If you are desperate for more calm in your family life I know you will benefit from this course.
She has even streamlined the course to make it easy for even the most frazzled mom to have time to listen and begin implementing the ideas! AND if you buy Say Goodbye to Survival Mode Course you will receive 3 Bonuses and an offer to take 15 Days to a Healthier You for only $8!! Woohoo!
Perhaps you have good schedule, but you are ready to tweak it and create more calm in your day by starting your mornings right. I highly suggest Crystal Paine’s Make Over Your Morning course. Even my daughter enjoyed listening to it. It comes with a daily video plus pretty printable to work at your own pace to create a smooth morning routine. It is only $17!!
Get started NOW creating a calmer home you LOVE!
